Rader to Host Shredding/Cleanup Event Oct. 1
BLAKESLEE – In an effort to help residents with the disposal of personal documents and certain other items, Rep. Jack Rader (R-Monroe) is hosting a shredding/cleanup event at Pocono Raceway in Long Pond on Saturday, Oct. 1, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. The free service is for Monroe County residents only.
“My staff and I are pleased we can provide these services to residents at no cost for the fourth consecutive year, along with our partners, Purple Paper Eaters and The Waste Authority,” said Rader. “This event has become very popular as folks take advantage of the opportunity to safely dispose of things they no longer need or shred sensitive documents to guard against identity theft.”
The event will take place in the parking area in front of the raceway ticket office at 1234 Long Pond Road. Residents are asked to remain in their vehicles while Rader’s staff unloads any paperwork or other items for disposal.
Shredding will be conducted on site by Purple Paper Eaters Document Destruction Services of Wilkes-Barre. There is a limit of four copy-paper-sized boxes per vehicle.
Additional items to be accepted include:
• Up to four passenger car tires collected at no cost by The Waste Authority of Blakeslee. Clean tires only please.
• Unwanted or expired prescription drugs collected by Monroe County Sheriff’s Office.
• Faded and worn flags collected by American Legion Post 413 Pocono Lake.
• Prescription eyeglasses, sunglasses and hearing aids collected by Lions Club.
• Working cell phones and chargers collected for Cell Phones for Soldiers.
• Gently used children’s books collected by Clymer Library.
