HARRISBURG – Four public school entities that serve students in the 176th Legislative District have been awarded School Safety and Mental Health Grants, according to Rep. Jack Rader (R-Monroe).
“Ensuring students are safe at school is one of our top priorities as lawmakers and something I strongly support,” said Rader. “This state funding will be used by school officials to upgrade security systems and provide behavioral health programs, which helps to reduce the threat of violence.”
The following school entities were awarded funding:
• Colonial Intermediate Unit 20 – $70,000.
• Monroe Career and Technical Institute – $70,000.
• Pleasant Valley School District – $183,539.
• Pocono Mountain School District – $261,801.
The noncompetitive grants were approved by the Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency, which awarded a total of $100 million in funding statewide to 500 school districts, 176 charter schools, 29 Intermediate units and 74 area career and technical schools.
In addition, nearly $20 million in competitive safety grants were awarded to 367 nonpublic schools. The awards complete the $120 million school safety grants program package appropriated in the bipartisan 2024-25 state budget that was approved by the General Assembly.
